Te Ara o Te Whetu Rangatahi Programme
Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Supporting Rangatahi to rise with confidence, purpose, and pride in who they are.
Te Whetū Ara is a rangatahi-focused programme designed to provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for young people aged 8–15 within the community.
The programme combines physical training, mentorship, and guided kōrero to help rangatahi build discipline, confidence, and a stronger sense of identity.
This kaupapa is grounded in lived experience and a genuine commitment to guiding young people toward positive life pathways.

Our Kaupapa & Values
Te Ara o Te Whetu Rangatahi Programme exists to support rangatahi to walk a pathway of strength, identity, belonging, and purpose. To create a safe and uplifting space where young people are guided to grow in confidence, wellbeing, cultural connection, and leadership through movement, kōrero, shared experiences, and positive relationships.
Our approach is whānau-centred, strengths-based, and grounded in aroha.
Our Core Values

We create a space where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported.
Each rangatahi is treated with dignity and kindness.
Whanaungatanga — Connection and Belonging
We strengthen relationships between rangatahi, whānau, and community.
No young person should feel like they are walking alone.
Rangatiratanga — Leadership and Responsibility
We encourage rangatahi to take ownership of their choices, actions, and future pathways.
Leadership begins with believing in yourself.
Kotahitanga — Unity and Support
We move forward together as one group, supporting each other’s growth and wellbeing.
Māia — Confidence and Courage
We help rangatahi build inner strength so they can stand strong in who they are.
Wairuatanga — Identity, Purpose, and Inner Strength
